The nature park stretches across the wooded heights of the Odenwald.
The task of the nature park is the protection of nature and landscape and the preservation and further development of the near-natural, historically grown cultural landscape. In the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park, there are refuges for many rare and endangered species in the designated nature reserves, in the protected forests and in the numerous biotopes throughout the entire area.
As a special focus, it offers its visitors a wide range of natural history information. Numerous themed trails provide information on forest and wildlife, geology and water, landscape elements and ecological relationships. The care and preservation of the diverse, small-structured landscape is particularly close to the heart of the Neckartal-Odenwald Nature Park. For this reason, it supports - financially and ideally - numerous landscape and habitat maintenance measures. In Heidelberg, many recreational facilities, nature trails and information boards as well as a wide range of events have been developed in cooperation with the nature park.
As an introduction to the nature park, a visit to the nature park center in Eberbach is recommended. Here you can experience the basics of nature and landscape at first hand and get hands-on experience.
