Heidelberg - Schwetzingen - Ketsch - Speyer

The Electoral Palatinate Route connects Heidelberg and Speyer and is an excellent day trip. In 2011, the route was newly signposted and marked with the green signs "Kurpfalzroute". Since there is a good train connection between the two cities, it is also possible to cover a section or parts of the route by train. You should not miss a rest (depending on the starting point) in the cities of Heidelberg, Schwetzingen, and Speyer. In Heidelberg, you can take a walk along the Philosophenweg with a view of the castle. Or linger in one of the lovely cafes and restaurants in the old town. In Schwetzingen, you should not miss the castle with the gigantic castle park. Speyer also attracts by many sights such as the cathedral or the Altpörtel. But you can also get to know the cathedral city by boat from the Rhine.
