Kurfürstliche Hofapotheke (Court Pharmacy of the Elector)

Short facts

  • Heidelberg

The baroque building, which is worth seeing, is located in the middle of Heidelberg's Old Town.

On the market square at the corner of Apothekergasse, a colourful Electoral Palatinate coat of arms signals the building of the former Electoral Court Pharmacy, which had the privilege of supplying the Electoral Court with medicines. After the destruction of the Palatinate War of Succession, the present Baroque building of the Electoral Palatinate Court Pharmacy was erected in 1701 by the architect Johann Jakob Rischer.

After Elector Karl Philipp moved his residence, the former court pharmacy is privately owned.
